England, UK. London. 13.6.1977. Grunwick strike - this is the first day of the mass pickets, when the British Trade Union movement came to the aid of immigrant women workers on strike for union recognition. Strike breakers go through the picket line. Jayaben Desai led a small band of strikers fighting the Grunwick film processing company. They had been paid £28 a week. But, as Jayaben declared, "The strike is not so much about pay, it is a strike about human dignity." ..Copyright © 1977 Andrew Wiard.W: www.reportphotos.com.E: info@reportphotos.com
