Town centre as the ANL ( Anti Nazi League ) meet to stop a National Front march that did not materialise. .A week later on Saturday 26th May after a fight between an Asian youth and a white youth a gang of white youths attacked Asian people and properties. Asian gangs responded in kind, firebombing a pub and then fighting with police. The resulting Oldham riots were the worst since the mid 1980’s.
