1994 Demonstration Against The Criminal Justice Bill
1994 Demonstration Against The Criminal Justice Bill - Police cavalry charge, Hyde Park. A march against a bill which sought, amongst other things, to abolish the centuries-old right to silence, while introducing new laws to criminalise squatters and road protesters, culminated in Hyde Park where, after fighting broke out at the edge of the rally, someone thought it a bright idea to send the cavalry charging into the centre of the crowd. Where they had no idea what to do next. So, wheeled round and rode all the way out again, pulling the crowd behind them like a magnet. Here seen leaving the park.magnet.
